vpoEN is narrowly tuned to specific IPI of drosophila courtship song and excites the descending neuron (vpoDN) responsible for vaginal plate openings signaling receptivity in females. antagonistic song. vpoIN inhibits vpoDN in response to any other IPI other than conspecific song.
